Multi Agency Training Timetable

As a result of consultation, and in response to the Scottish Executive's document "Protecting Children - A Shared Responsibility" all inter-agency training is modularised, and delivered locally.  A training sub-group of the Child Protection Committee has been in place since 2002 and they were tasked with developing the training modules.  This group took cognisance of the diverse roles and responsibilities of each of the agencies involved in the field of child protection but were also aware of the overlapping of roles and responsibilities, shared training needs for consistent and standardised practice between the agencies and the authorities were identified.

The training on offer provides staff from all agencies (Direct and Care Services, Health, Education, Police, SCRA, Voluntary Sector, Culture and Sport Glasgow and Social Work) the opportunity to meet, share experiences and train together jointly, pooling resources, reflecting best practice and reinforcing the standalone training already undertaken in Glasgow in child protection procedures and guidance.

Glasgow Child Protection Committee is committed to the continuous development of inter-agency training and working to ensure that the service provided to victims and families is of the highest standard. These courses have been operating since 2002.  The courses are, wherever possible, delivered locally to allow local working relationships to be strengthened.

In addition, participating agencies have identified single agency training requirements for all staff and delivery of necessary training.  Glasgow has adopted a tiered approach to child protection training with basic awareness training at the first tier and more specialised training (e.g. Diploma in Child Protection) sitting in the final tier.
